The LifeVantage Story

Imagine a product with the potential to change the world stuck on a retail shelf with its story untold. This was Protandim's beginning--but not its end. While Protandim sat mixed with trendy vitamins and other nutritional supplements in the retail world, a group of visionary individuals were preparing the way for Protandim's story to reach thousands of people.

Thanks to the innovative and breakthrough research of Dr. Joe McCord, Protandim had its moment of fame when it appeared on ABC "Primetime" in 2005 and propelled the product and the company into the national spotlight. U.S. retail sales of Protandim boomed momentarily but the product was quickly lost again in the glut of nutraceutical products on the shelf. Although familiar with the product, retail store clerks didn't have the proper motivation or knowledge to share Protandim's full story.

David Brown, President of LifeVantage Network, recognized Protandim's potential. In a bold and daring move, he removed Protandim from retail shelves and in 2009 implemented a network marketing business method better suited to distribute Protandim and share its story. It was a new beginning for LifeVantage.

Today, LifeVantage is a burgeoning science-based nutraceutical company dedicated to helping people to become better, creating and living a legacy, and living a life of purpose by helping others improve their physical and financial health.

In a way, Protandim acts much like LifeVantage: they both help people to become better. Protandim, the Nrf2 Synergizer, works at the level of your DNA to help your body do what it is already programmed to do. At LifeVantage, we're working to help you become better, to maximize your potential using the traits, talents and unique genetic characteristics that make you the person you are deep inside.

Our team of dedicated professionals stands ready to help you change your life. We're with you every step of the way, supporting you as you share the story of Protandim and the LifeVantage business opportunity. We are here to help you build your team and make yourself, your life and the world better.

Scientific Advisory Board: Experts In Their Field

LifeVantage Chief Science Officer
Dr. Joe McCord, Ph.D., chief scientist behind Protandim®, the Nrf2 synergizer™, has more than 40 years of research experience in Free Radical Biology, oxidative stress and Nrf2 activation.

Dr. Joe McCord is recognized as one of the foremost authorities on the body's antioxidant defense system. Dr. McCord has outstanding credentials, and he is featured in Dr. Sanjay Gupta's book, "Chasing Life." Dr. McCord is credited with co-discovering the enzyme Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) in 1969, which marked the beginning of the study of antioxidants and the impact on the human body.

Thanks to his groundbreaking work, Dr. McCord is highly regarded in the field and has helped shape the direction of antioxidant research over the years. Dr. McCord currently serves as Professor of Medicine, Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center (UCDHSC). He is also the Honorary President of the International Society of Antioxidants in Nutrition and Health (ISANH).

History In The Making
He got his first chemistry set as a gift at age 10 and that gift started young Joe McCord on a scientific journey that eventually led to his discovery of Superoxide Dismutase in 1969! “Science doesn’t happen by a scientist coming up with a grandiose idea and setting about to prove it,” he said.

“Instead, it’s years of stumbling around, making observations, piecing together facts, sharing what is learned, and sooner or later, it all becomes meaningful.”

The Discovery
Dr. McCord’s doctoral dissertation was the discovery of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), an enzyme that eliminates free radicals. For this work, Dr. McCord received the Elliott Cresson Medal, the highest award given by the Franklin Institute. Honoring the greatest men and women of science, engineering and technology, the Elliott

Cresson Medal, first awarded in 1875, was also awarded to Marie and Pierre Curie, Alexander Graham Bell, Orville Wright and Henry Ford!

Accomplishments
Dr. McCord, mentioned 17 times by Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN Chief Medical Correspondent, in his book "Chasing Life," currently serves as a Professor of Medicine, Biochemistry, and Microbiology at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center (UCDHSC.) He received a lifetime achievement award from the Oxygen Society for outstanding contributions to the field of free radical biology and medicine and has published articles in a number of scientific journals, including the "New England Journal of Medicine."
